2021.10.16 17:43 evenstarauror Need some help/reassurance about upcoming trip and disability accommodations
Sorry for the wall of text but I am hoping to get some perspective from people who have taken recent trips. Husband and I are seasoned Disney vets, and we have two longtime friends going with us (one first timer, one first time since a pretty young kid). All of us are late 20s, vaccinated adults. They have asked me to kind of "tour guide" this trip for them as they know I'm the planning guru with lots of experience. We have a trip booked for February, in a family suite at Art of Animation.
One of the things that always keeps us going back to Disney is the fact that I have PTSD (and some other health issues) and the consistency of experience and lack of triggers at Disney has meant that it's always been my safe and happy place. Food allergy accommodations are also important for us.
However, all these changes have made me really unsure, especially taking along two newbies who are also neurodivergent. I want to be able to understand the ins and outs of everything to try to accommodate them, but so much is different. Some worsening symptoms in the past year and the inability to just use FP to skip certain queues I can't wait in is going to mean that I'm pretty sure I am going to need a DAS pass (and frankly, one of our friends would likely need one too although would be probably unwilling to admit it and just be really miserable and/or skip stuff, which I'm 100% willing to take the fall for so HE doesn't feel anxious). I'm disappointed because Disney is usually the one place I get to feel "normal" but I need to just get over it. Hearing the challenges people had getting through on the phone with the new system is making me nervous, though. I've never had to use DAS before and I'm afraid that with the new system and taking FP away that people will look at our party of four able bodied adults and assume we lied about a disability because of the FP removal (since it's been all over this sub/blogs that people are discussing the fact that people will do exactly this). I'm already kind of self conscious about using it and am nervous about the rest of our party feeling judged by people because of me. Also just the logistics of DAS with the advance planning seem a bit complicated - I know we don't really know what this is going to look like in the app yet but I hope it is ok to navigate. Frankly the expense of Genie+ is not insignificant to us and I really don't want to use it but if I feel it will make it easier for me with accessibility I might try to figure out a way to pay for it myself for our whole group.
I know nobody truly knows the answer to this, but thoughts on indoor masks being still required in February? Some sensory processing issues make extended mask wearing challenging, but doable. We won't cancel our trip over this alone but it would make a world of difference for us.
I read that with DAS it is easier if everyone has Magic Bands, but since we don't get them for free anymore it's another expense. My husband and I can bring our old ones and just order them for our friends, but our last trip was 2019 - is there any way to test the batteries in them? Will we miss getting our ride photos if we use our old ones?
Also I have two whole new sets of different health issues to accommodate - I'm of course really used to my own issues by now but I really want to try hard to make this as comfortable as possible for all of us. Anyone have any good ideas for quiet places in the parks for someone who is easily overstimulated and easily overheated to take a break? I'm hopeful that early February won't be unmanageably hot but you never know. Also with relying on Disney transportation and the issues I have heard regarding that, I'm not feeling as good about the idea of just taking midday breaks at the resort - which just my husband and I often don't do, but I know this trip we will likely need to for the other two in our party. With DME going away, and the transportation issues, should we just rent a car? I’d really prefer not to deal with the expense of a rental car and parking, and also being in the bubble and not having to drive is part of the magic for us - but I also don’t want to feel “trapped” if transportation is poor and also there’s still the expense of getting to and from the airport one way or another. Also, any restaurant recommendations for an adult with a toddler palate to still feel fully included in the experience? I don't want him to have to ask for a kids menu and make him feel "less than". I'm accustomed to asking for accommodations for a food allergy but less so with a very picky eater who is somewhat self conscious about it. I was originally thinking a lot of the character meals would have more kid friendly food/easier to pick and choose from a buffet but I'm not sold on the "socially distant" character experience or the change to family style (I love to hug characters - although frankly the rest of the group may prefer the distanced interactions). Again this is a case of somewhat conflicting needs as two of us really need the cooldown and relative quiet break a sit-down meal provides, and table services are better with accommodating allergies, while all quick service would be easier for the self conscious picky eater. Also I'm seeing mixed reports on mobile ordering with special requests/allergy requests. Is there a suitable workaround?
We all desperately need a dose of Disney magic and have wanted this trip for a long time - I'm hoping that four kids at heart with a variety of challenges just trying to live their best life can still make the best of a week at Disney even if a lot of what makes it magical doesn’t look like I’m accustomed to. I just really really want everyone to be comfortable and happy and plan the best trip I can for everyone, although we are well used to having to call audibles in regular life and Disney won't magically be any different.
Any advice regarding things that have changed that I may have missed? I think my primary anxiety is revolving around the idea that some stuff will be different and I don’t know about it ahead of time so we can be prepared.

2021.10.16 17:43 Emergency-Bat-4778 what am I missing by playing offline single player?
I'm new to d2 and have been absolutely loving online single player. With all the posts about crashes/server issues I can't help but think why don't people just play offline- but because I'm a noob I'm sure there's something I'm missing. Why play online d2? Does being able to trade items make it that much better? What am I missing?

2021.10.16 17:43 Patch33Up [Feature Request] Integration of BBC Sounds
The BBC's offering ist greate, but their BBC Sounds app eats my device's battery and doesn't cope well with spotty mobile reception. I'd rather use PR for this, would that be at all possible?
BTW I'm happy to log in to Sounds and don't want to export the audio, just cache it and listen to it.

2021.10.16 17:43 vDUKEvv Tony Khan is baiting WWE to lose even more hardcore fans.
The reason I got back into this was the long term storytelling, and the really insane, fast paced wrestling. The Golden Lovers, Bullet Club, los ingobernables, and now The Elite, FTR, and the Lucha Bros. These factions, their insane wrestling, and the way all their storylines interconnect over a long span of time is what is making AEW/NJPW so interesting.
As for the WWE, I catch the occasional big match now and then, and obviously there’s a ton of really great wrestling happening there, but I just cannot get down with the cringey, I am very badass, alpha male/female bullshit stories that the WWE constantly pushes. I gave it a shot, and it’s not for me. That’s fine, and I hope any of you that enjoy that keep doing so.
But, what Tony Khan is doing by creating a culture of a wrestling “war,” is pushing myself and a lot of others like me even further away from the WWE. Not because I’m Team AEW and I feel like I have to take their side. It’s the decisions that the WWE are making in response. Hot shotting titles, gutting NXT, releasing/losing big upcoming stars, etc.
Whether you like their shows or not, they’re making all the exact opposite decisions they should be making if they actually want people who are tuning into AEW to instead, check out WWE. All to fight a war that’s not even real, because if they just ignored AEW, everyone would continue on in the same way.
All it takes is a couple pointed tweets that Khan makes tongue-in-cheek and the WWE panic and change their shows, only continuing to ruin any sort of long term story or logical booking, and pushing new, week in, week out fans further from their company.
