2021.12.08 12:18 asshlyn_nicole Starting Naltrexone

My doctor said I would have to get blood work done to make sure liver was not inflamed before starting. He said wait about three days since your last drink and go get the blood work done. That was a week ago and I have not been able to string together three days to save my life!!!! Just had a birthday also. But anyways, do I have to really wait the three days? He already gave me meds. They have been sitting in my purse and I really want to start them but have not yet since I have not got blood work done due to not being able to get three days in a row.
Very new.to this medicine and not sure if it's that serious to wait or can I go ahead and start.
I also take welbutrine and lamictal if that makes any kind of difference.
TIA

2021.12.08 12:18 Nosy_Introvert UPDATED - Testing Positive for COVID-19 on Arrivals PCR Test

Hey guys, I thought I'd just post my final Day 10 update from my experience of Quarantine in Phuket to give it a little bump to the top of the list, I'm not a long-time or experienced Reddit user, so not sure if this is normal protocol, but regardless thought it would be good to get something to the top of the that might get seen and help more people. This is only the latest Day 5 update that has quite a lot of important bits in it, but to see the full story, journey and experience from the Day One original post you can click the LINK HERE.
UPDATE #5 - Day 10 - 08/12/21 (THE BIG DAY)
So guys... The day is finally upon us. I sit here writing this at 21:26pm. I have exactly 2 hours 34 minutes until I'm allowed to sprint out of this place. One of the first things I want to say is that I am so glad I packed like I was going to shit my pants every single day for my 1 week holiday in Dubai before I arrived here. Because I AM RUNNING OUT OF PANTS but I made it to the end with just one pair left for tomorrow lol. I never asked so I don't know if possible, but surely you can do some sort of washing here... Who knows.
First things first what most people want to know. My hospital bill was around 206,000 Baht / £4600 GBP. This was on the lower end of the estimate since I refused some treatments and I also stopped all meals and took care of that stuff myself. And my insurance covered it ALL. Not once did they try to get out of paying anything, no questions asked. Settled the whole thing. I even had a very open and honest conversation with them about the hospital trying to just add things on for the sake of it because it was going through insurance or I was foreign, they thanked me for saving them a bit of money lol.
Onto my experience over the past 8 days since my last update. All things considered, it's really not been that bad at all. Mostly thanks to the ridiculous amount of work I've had to get on with, it's really kept my days busy and I'm used to working long ass hours in my home office anyway. So thanks to having my laptop, phone, Wifi and even my Switch (which I didn't even play once) it's gone super quick. This makes me worry about how quick the next 6-7 weeks are going to go before I have to go home... But I'm grateful to have caught up on some work I was behind on and hopefully, this will just free me up to enjoy Thailand a little more without as much work during my stay here.
I'll write a little bit about how the week has gone in regards to any hospital quarantine specific details that might be helpful for others.
The Hospital - Bangkok Hospital PhuketAs mentioned before I was taken to Bangkok Hospital Phuket - notorious for overcharging my ridiculous amounts, but it was a clean and private hospital and I had my own room with an En Suite all to myself. This first of all probably played the biggest part in my time here going fast. I could have my own space, not shared with anyone, I knew my belongings would be safe and I could work in peace, with music on etc. The room had:

I was allowed to leave my room, but only to go into the corridohallway. Outside my door was a table that always had fresh bottles of water, fresh clothes, a fresh shower towel, toilet roll and tissues daily.
At the end of the corridohallway was some doors we were not allowed to go through, these were for the Nurses station. Also at the end of the corridohallway were supplies should we need anything else, more water, toilet roll, cutlery and bowls, a bathroom pack that contained body wash and shampoo, cotton buds, a face wipe and such things. I kept stealing the body wash out of these since I had none with me (the intention was to buy such things once I settled down in my accommodation). Feel sorry for the person who kept picking them up without body wash in lmao.
There was also a microwave where we could reheat food. This was great for me since I was ordering FoodPanda once per day, I would order both lunch and dinner to 1) Avoid the amount of times the nurses had to keep running down to collect my order for me from reception and then 2) so I didn't have to wait for it twice a day or risk it getting lost or not showing up.
The DoctorI spoke with the Doctor every single day, he would alternate between phone calls one day and coming in to actually see me on the other. After the first one or two times of speaking and seeing him, the visits and calls become super quick, I'm talking like 30 seconds to 2 minutes max. I guess there wasn't really much to discuss since I've only had a little cough and otherwise been asymptomatic.
TreatmentThankfully I was close to being asymptomatic. So this is probably one of the reasons my bill was on the lower end of the estimate. I would not like to think how things would be if I were in here and really unwell. My blood tests at the beginning of Quarantine and my chest X-Ray were all normal, although that didn't stop the Doctor from attempting to take another X-Ray towards the second half of the stay. I kindly refused and said it wasn't needed, he was happy to accept. They also tried to give me Paracetamol and what looked like Calpol, this was near the beginning of my stay, once again I kindly refused as I don't like to take things that aren't needed. They also continued to take daily vitals twice per day (Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, Body Temp), once at 7am (sometimes even 645am) and then again around 5pm in the evening. It got to the point where I told them to stop them since once again they really weren't needed. In these situations, it seemed they were just doing things to add items to the bill to be honest. So I am glad to have saved my insurance company some money.
Insurance & PaperworkThroughout my stay, the insurance department at the hospital would call me to discuss updates and what's going on with their communication with my insurance company, in fact I probably spoke to them more than the doctor haha. Makes sense since they were after my money. Finally today on my last day they arranged all my documents to prepare for my departure. They included:
I then had to sign some final papers to approve the bill. I think I signed about 3-4 pages. This all had to be done before I can leave.
That's pretty much it folks. I think I've remembered everything, feel free to ask me if you feel I've missed something, I'll check back once in a while.
Thanks to everyone for their support and kind words over the period I was in here. And I'm also happy to have written this to hopefully help people in similar situations, I have a feeling this is going to be happening more and more now as COVID picks up again.
Final Words Please remember when reading everything above... This was about my specific experience in Phuket at Bangkok Hospital. You should not consider this all to happen exactly the same across all regions of Thailand, what may have happened for me, may happen differently for others. From the price of the stay, to the treatment, to the quarantine duration. As we all know Thailand seems to make things up as they go along, and clear rules for the whole of Thailand don't always seem to be the case.
For anyone reading this who's about to go into quarantine or you are already in quarantine, I wish you good luck, I hope you goes as fast for you as it did for me. Just remember everything will be okay.
For those reading this that are just researching, I would probably recommend you don't take a trip to Thailand for only 2-3 weeks since if this does happen, it could be a complete waste of your time and money. For me, I have a 2-month stay so it's not a great deal losing 10 days.
Thanks, everyone, peace and love, ready to explore tomorrow!

2021.12.08 12:18 ddddavinnnn Books like The Black Farm?

I just finished reading The Black Farm and Return to The Black Farm! These two books have easily been my favorite books I’ve read in the past year and I’m now struggling to choose my next book because I’m afraid of being disappointed and living up to the enjoyment I had reading these two... so Reddit I was wondering if you had any suggestions like The Black Farm? Creative depictions of the afterlife? Creative monster characters like the pig, pig-born, and the keepers from The Black Farm? Visual depictions and gore? Thanks in advance!
