2022.01.25 17:26 callmejay758 Thermal pad on GPU die as a temporary solution
I bought a couple of thermal pads to replace on my gpu heatsink. I thought i could've used thermal pads on the gpu die as well but looking online seems to tell me to get the paste instead. While i intend to use paste when i get it, can use the thinnest thermal pad i have (0.5mm) as a temporary heat conductor? Or should i just leave the old (barely even there) thermal paste and wait till i get the new paste. Is it dangerous?

2022.01.25 17:26 Ultimatesaber27 How does Wine work, and what games or apps can it run?
Out of curiosity, I wanted to see how this would work on a phone, but all I get is a grey screen after Wine finishes installing.
Google results are very vague about this. Compatibility seems to be low, but there doesn't seem to be a list of some sort to have an idea on what it can or can't run. For example, if I wanted to play, say, Mega Man Unlimited or Mega Man Super Fighting Robot, would I be able to?

2022.01.25 17:26 Til410 Bad insulin or insulin resistance? Mind boggled
So long story short the past week or so it seems like everything I eat I’ve been having to do double, almost triple the amount of insulin I typically do to bring my blood down. For example today I woke up at 115 then worked out, came home and ate a banana with peanut butter and corrected for it beforehand. Went up to like 230 for almost 3 hours and did a couple more units, an hour later and only dropped to 220 did a couple more units, an hour later down to 190. Since this was occurring I switched my site (which was fine) and vile of insulin I was using and it still seems to be happening. Has anyone gone through weird periods of insulin resistance or could all my insulin be a bad? I’ve been a t1 for 18 years and haven’t really had this happen except maybe a couple times when I was using a bad pen or something. So frustrating 😩

2022.01.25 17:26 Throwawaygfys123 Doing no contact without establishing if it's really over yet
This must be the worst feeling i've ever felt. Last week, I asked my girl about why she had become so distant lately. She told me that she felt as if she had begun to treat me more disrespectful, and that as much as she wanted to be with me, she had a feeling saying something wasn't right and that she wasn't sure if she wanted to be together anymore. We have been together for 5 years, and we recently bought our second home together. I felt like literal trash. I was in deep utter shock. Our relationship was rock solid, at least for the first 4 years. We cried all night, kissed alot, and slept a couple of hours. I had to leave the house for 4 hours in the morning, and when I got back, we sat down while she cancelled her meeting, and tried to talk about it. She never could handle emotions well, and couldn't give me any spesific reason. She was awfully sorry that she is never in contact with her feelings, and that she couldn't sit down and talk about our relationship regularly. She decided that she would move into her mothers place for some time, while I could keep on living in our apartment. I gave her the ultimatum that if this is it, she won't be hearing much from me no more, but if she could see this as an opportunity to take a break, get our heads straight, try to live on our own, and try to work on the relationship from there, we should risk it knowing that we could go through this again. I said that we probably shouldn't speak much in the following weeks/months. She agreed to it, and we haven't spoken since she left the apartment 6 days ago. I feel so heartbroken, and i am just waiting to get properly dumped by my love and (ex) future wife. It gets so hard when I have to be alone here, and I feel like a burdon when I reach out to friends more than once. I realize that my ongoing depression and anxiety turned off some switches in our relationship, but I really thought we were on a really good path now, knowing that we moved in to our new home just 5 months ago. I intend to keep on doing no contact to show for myself and her that I can get by alone, but I feel like I haven't gotten any answers. And I am afraid to get even more heartbroken, and then have to live every day looking at my phone until the utter sadness fades away for good. I don't want to see her if she comes here to pick up some of her stuff, but I couldn't bare to be out of the apartment either. It was so hard holding her the whole day, both crying and kissing each other, until her mom finally picked her up after work. I am not sure how to continue from here.

2022.01.25 17:26 Logical-Function7637 Terrible experience with Costco return for jewlery
My boyfriend [32M] and I [30F] have been shopping for an engagement ring. I spotted 2 rings on Costco website that I wanted to try but they both aren't available in our store. I buy jewelries frequently from Costco and we have been customers since the store first opened a decade ago. I expressed with the person that works at the jewelry area how much I wanted to see those rings in person and if they could order them to the store for customers to try on. They told me the only way I could try them on is to purchase them online and try it on at home and if I don't like it, just bring it back to the store to return. One of the rings that I liked kept going in and out of stock online, as if, it's just one of them and people would buy it then return it and it's available again after few weeks. When it was available again, I told my boyfriend about it and he said he would get it for me to try on while it's available. After we purchased it, it was immediately removed from the online listing. We received the ring in early December, and it has since been crazy with holidays season and my boyfriend was sick with covid for 2 weeks and his parents were sicken with covid with his dad in the hospital for 3 weeks till New Years so we had to help them take care of the house and I was out of town, etc.
I loved the first ring we ordered but I still really wanted to see the other ring, so I decided to order that ring last week. After seeing both rings in person, I decided that I want the second ring and we would return the first ring, they were approximately the same price. I never wore the first ring out and after I tried it on, my boyfriend has kept it in his safe at his house. Both rings are in pristine conditions. When we went to the store to return the ring, there were multiple "managers" came to look at it, even then, they said they would need an expert to check it out and I was fine with that because it was bigger than 1carat and I totally expected based on the disclosure from their website. However, they couldn't proceed with anything and sent us back with the ring. They said they would call back the next day and they had another manager that wasn't there the day before, called me back. She was asking why it took me so long to return the ring, and how the store would lose this much money because it's used jewelry and said, "you wouldn't want to purchase a used jewelry, would you?", they can't put it back on sale. I was shocked! She sounded so unpleasant and I tried to explain to her as details as I could and how the ring is in perfect condition as when I received it. She said she will need to call me back to see how they can handle this return and what the procedure would be. Now we are stuck with 2 rings that we thought shouldn't be a problem to return and it has been a day with no return call. Have anyone else unable to return expensive jewelry at Costco?

2022.01.25 17:26 tatertotfreak100 I think the show is fundamentally about people who don't want to be saved.
One thing I've thought about a lot, especially on a rewatch, is how outside of the first couple of episodes the crash survivors don't seem all that interested in being rescued. I have seen this be laughed off as lazy or unrealistic writing ("light a rescue fire, you dummies!", etc.), or attributed to some supernatural explanation (i.e some mysterious force in those woods doesn't want them to leave) but I think deep down the show is about the fact that for one reason or another, a lot of the characters simply don't have a strong motivation to leave and the guilt and conflict they feel as adults about this.
We see this very explicitly with Misty, as she relishes her role as savior of the group and outright smashes the flight recorder, assuming it dooms their chance at rescue. She also has the opportunity to keep her crush as a pet with Coach Ben. What else could a budding sociopath ask for?
With characters such as Van and Lottie, their home lives are shown to be pretty terrible. Chopping wood, being able to makeout with your secret girlfriend and dancing to This is How We Do It in a cabin seems preferable to slapping your alcoholic mother awake for rides to school or getting force-fed anti-psychotics by a housekeeper in the absence of your detached parents. We hear Lottie even comment that the only way her dad knows how to communicate is by buying her things. That doesn't seem to make for an especially warm and nurturing home life one would be anxious to return to.
Shauna, I think, is in no hurry to grow up and get back to the "real world". Her reaction to reading over her early acceptance letter to Brown seems to be one of trepidation, not excitement. As an adult we see her masturbating to a picture of her daughter's teenage boyfriend and forcing Adam to go on typical high school kid activities on their date. I don't think this is necessarily simply because she "never got a typical high school" experience. I think she did, she just wants to live in it forever. It's probably a direct result of knowing she is pregnant and realizing she is about to grow up very quickly. If she doesn't have to go back to the real world she doesn't have to face the consequences of her actions and the guilt she feels about betraying Jackie. If she can skin a deer to help keep Jackie fed and alive the balance sheet is even. Once they get home she has to own up to her actions. It's a profound case of denial.
Nat we see also have a pretty miserable home life, save for Kevyn and her mixtapes. The trauma of seeing her dad get his face blown off can't make living there very easy. I do think that she is one of the first of the group to grow out of this though, probably because she bonds with Travis and gets hope for the future. I can see this being fundamental in her being pivotal in getting them rescued later. She's one of the few that still has motivation to leave and this probably directly leads to her (and Travis') split from the AQ's faction. There could also be a layer of remorse for saving people who didn't want to be saved, which could've contributed to her addiction issues, trying to black out the guilt.
Travis, at first, we see also seem to relish his time there more than he lets on. He doesn't have to face his bullies at home, his asshole dad who made home life suck is dead. Again though I think his growing bond with Nat (not to mention being terrorized by the girls on Doomcoming) causes a shift and propels his desire to get rescued and back to the real world.
With Taissia she seems to be haunted by her past and either literal connection to the supernatural or mental health issues (sleepwalking, disassociating, etc.) so sees a respite or escape from dealing with it here, at least at first. Another case of this off-the-grid existence being preferable to real life/trauma. She also gets to spend time with Van, outside of the watchful eye of her family, normal society, etc.
I think this dynamic is the crux of the rift between the survivors/factions in the present. I can envision most of the survivors coming around to wanting to be rescued eventually and that conflicting with those that still do not (Lottie and Van...potentially Misty). There is a lot of drama and narrative tension that can and will be pulled from seeing those shifts in characters and hope re-emerge in some and completely fade from others.
